You likely recognize Cara Sapida from your TV as a reporter for WPXI TV. Cara and I go way back. As women in media, we often crossed paths at events around town and became fast friends.
This past year, Cara took on the fight of her life as she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, which is a very aggressive form of breast cancer. Not only did Cara tackle her diagnosis with bravery, grace and positivity but she made her process public on social media to bring awareness to breast cancer prevention.
You'll be happy to know that Cara was recently declared cancer free. She's now sharing her story in hopes that more women will check for lumps and schedule their mammograms.
In our conversation, Cara and I talked about how she learned she had breast cancer, the steps she took after learning her diagnosis, connecting with women across the world in a time that we couldn't connect in person, staying positive as a mother of 2 during her battle and more.
