Heimlich Heroics at Central High School! Freshman Ian Brown didn't waste any time jumping in and helping his choking classmate Will Olson. Brown learned the Heimlich maneuver as part of his first aid training as a Police Explorer with the City of La Crosse Police Department.

Freshman Ian Brown performed the Heimlich maneuver on classmate Will Olsen, who was choking on food in the cafeteria at Central High School in La Crosse, USA Today reported.

Cameras caught the incident Wednesday, when Olsen began coughing and holding his stomach.  While one student jumped up and walked away from the table, others continued eating because they thought Olsen was kidding around.

Brown noticed the color change in Olsen's face and neck, which indicated that he was in distress, the police department said in a news release.
