Former Pirates Pitcher Busted With Nearly 50lbs Of Narcotics

UPDATE: On Wednesday, prosecutors charged Loaiza, 46, with possession and transportation for sale of more than 22 pounds of cocaine, a cocaine base or heroin, and using a false compartment to smuggle drugs...Later, authorities obtained a search warrant for the home he rented in the community of Imperial Beach, where officials say packages were found containing a white powder believed to be cocaine and that weighed a total of 44 pounds!!!

The 46-year-old retired athlete did not speak in court but his defense attorney entered his not guilty plea.

Former Pirates pitcher Esteban Loaiza was arrested in San Diego County on Friday for transporting about 44 pounds of heroin and cocaine.

His bail was set at $200,000 and he's scheduled to appear in court this Wednesday. A look below at the list of felony drug charges he's facing. YEESH!

In his 14-year career, Loaiza pitched with eight other teams, including the Yankees, Dodgers and Blue Jays. He last pitched in 2008 with the Chicago White Sox.

He was a two-time All Star and finished second in the Cy Young voting in 2003.
