One step closer to a movie about the life of Mac Miller...
Deadline reports a screenplay of an unofficial biopic of Mac's short, yet impactful life made it onto Hollywood's black list. The black list is a compilation of undeveloped scripts and movie ideas voted on by various studio and production company executives. If you're fortunate enough to get a screenplay or movie idea onto this list, there's a good chance it will get made.
The tentative name for the project is Blue Slide Park, named after Mac's 2011 album. The synopsis reads: After his first album topped the Billboard Charts, life was never the same for Malcolm McCormick aka Mac Miller. This is his story of music, love, success, family, and addiction.
The idea for the screenplay was originally adapted from a manuscript for a documentary being worked on by journalist Paul Cantor. Cantor began working on the project before Miller's untimely death in 2018.
But don't get too excited about seeing Mac' life on the Silver Screen any time soon. Mac's family is understandably hesitant about the project moving forward. Miller's family asked that the documentary not be produced, just this past year.
Rest in piece, Mac
