'The Umbrella Academy' Spin-Off Series Will Happen Under One Condition

Last Friday (July 31), Netflix dropped the highly-anticipated second season of The Umbrella Academy. If you're like me, you've already flown through the new season and are begging for more of the Hargreeves siblings.

While the season was left on a cliffhanger giving us good reason for a third season, it seems the Hargreeves may be getting more screen time.

In an interview with Digital Spy, showrunner Steve Blackman and stars Robert Sheehan (“Klaus”) and Tom Hopper (“Luther”) opened up about the possibility of some characters receiving their own spin-off show.

“I think 'Klaus' and 'Ben' (Justin H. Min), or 'Klaus' and 'Diego' (David Castañeda) – Any of those, to me, would be wonderful spin-offs,” Blackman said. “I think you could do a limited series with them for four or six episodes, and it would be great. I think even Robert could do his own little thing about 'Klaus.'”

And Sheehan agreed that he'd love to see his character in his own show. “To get to do more of that? Absolute-bots. Me and Mr. Hopper have unfinished business on screen. I think we have more to do, definitely, in Umbrella or a spinoff,” he said.

As for Hopper, he's totally on board to spend some extra time with his on-screen brother. “I love the dynamic between 'Klaus' and 'Luther' as well, because 'Luther' is so by the book, and 'Klaus' is the absolute opposite," Hopper explained. “So I feel that there's stuff to be experimented with there, much further.”

Blackman did say he'd consider a spin-off under one condition and it's a pretty big one that heavily relies on fans: “ if there's an appetite for it,” he said. So start tweeting and tagging the cast and crew to get your voice heard!

The spin-off could be a reality seeing as we are getting a new comic series from Gerard Way about “Klaus“ next month so there will be plenty of material to use on a new show!
