Prince Harry Watches 'The Crown' & Reveals Who He’d Want To Play Him

Ever since The Crown debuted on Netflix a few years back, viewers have wanted to know if the Royal Family—who the historical drama is based on—ever watch the show. While some royals, like Prince William, have denied tuning in, Prince Harry just revealed he's checked it out. His honest opinion of The Crown will probably be surprising for many, too.

“Of course, it’s not strictly accurate,” Harry said of The Crown during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden. “It gives you a rough idea about what that lifestyle [looks like], what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else―what can come from that.”

Ultimately, Harry says he doesn't mind The Crown because he knows it's a fictionalized version of history. “I’m way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family or my wife or myself,” he explained. “Because it’s the difference between ‘That is obviously fiction, take it how you will,’ but this is being reported on as fact because you’re supposedly news. I have a real issue with that.”

The Late Late Show host then asked who Prince Harry would like to see portraying him on the series, Harry picked Billions actor Damian Lewis as his first choice. “I think Damian Lewis as you and me as William ― that’s casting,” Corden replied. “It’s not great casting, but it is casting,” Harry hilariously retorted.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely Damian Lewis will ever get the chance to play the Duke of Sussex on The Crown. Peter Morgon, the creator of the series, has said the show will not cover Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step back from their official royal duties.
