Pennsylvania Girl Asks for Valentines While Fighting Organ Rejection

If you think that Valentine's Day is a cheesy Hallmark Holiday, here is your chance to make it mean a little bit more this year.

Kyree Beachem, a 12-year-old from Ellwood City, a small town about 30 miles away from Pittsburgh, is asking for Valentines. Kyree is currently fighting severe organ rejection after receiving multiple transplants four years ago. She received national attention when she received a new liver, pancreas, and small and large intestines due to her battle with Hirschsprung Disease. According to the Mayo Clinic, Hirschsprung Disease is a condition that results from missing nerves in the colon. She went into organ rejection just before Christmas and had to begin treatments at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Since she has to be in and out of the Children's Hospitals this Valentine's Day, Kyree has to miss school and is asking for Valentines. She also told Pittsburgh news station KDKA that she is "obsessed" with animals and would like to see pictures of people's pets. If you would like to send her one, you can send it to:
