WATCH: Jake Gyllenhaal Falls Into the "Sourdough Cult"

Jake Gyllenhaal is officially the most relatable celebrity of the pandemic.

On Tuesday, April 28, Jake Gyllenhaal stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to talk about his performance in Take Me to the World: A Sondheim 90th Birthday Celebration, a star-studded tribute to the legendary Broadway composer, but his sourdough starter stole the show. Jake began the interview by telling Stephen to whisper because his sourdough needed to rest. He explained that he had a good friend who owns a bakery, and his friend gave him a recipe for sourdough starter. According to Feasting at Home, sourdough starter is similar to yeast and made out of fermented flour and water. Jake seemed so into his sourdough that he joked near the end of the interview that he was in a relationship with sourdough.
