As a devoted Yinzer, the only thing I dislike about living in Pittsburgh is our lack of presence on major best-of lists. Whenever I see a list for ‘Best __________ in the US’, the Pennsylvania feature is, without fail, in or near the Philadelphia area. Pittsburgh does not get enough love, and when I opened Yelp’s ‘Best Places in the Country for Apple Picking’ list, I was not expecting to see a Pittsburgh farm on the list. I was expecting Philly to get all the national acclaim per usual, but not today. One of the best apple picking spots in the country, according to Yelp, is in our own backyard.
Yelp named Pittsburgh’s Triple B Farms as one of the top 50 spots for apple picking in the country. Their list was based on farms’ volume of positive Yelp reviews, and Triple B Farms boasts an impressive Yelp rating of four out of five stars, with 43 reviews. When you read the reviews, it’s not hard to see why Triple B Farms was rated one of the top spots in the country. Triple B Farms, located about an hour south of Pittsburgh in Monongahela, PA, is way more than just apple picking. It’s a fall extravaganza perfect for the entire family. Yelp user Lynn S. said:
I love triple B! Very cute farm and atmosphere. Their prices are reasonable and they're definitely one of my favorite places to visit for fall fests in the Pittsburgh area
Triple B Farms has orchards, a farm store, and fall fun activities that your family will love. In addition to apples, you can also pick berries, produce, pumpkins, and sunflowers. Their farm store, which is called ‘The Best Farm Market in Pittsburgh’ on their website, has fresh produce, baked goods, and Amish-made cheese and butter. You can also take a hayride or get lost in one of two corn mazes, and there are plenty of activities for kids, like jumping pillows. Triple B Farms is open daily from 10AM – 5PM, and you must buy your fall fun tickets online in advance.
If you decide to venture out to Triple B Farms this fall, I’ll see you there! Definitely putting this on my Pittsburgh fall to-do list, and shout-out to Yelp for giving Pittsburgh the love it deserves.
