Nantucket has some of the best beaches in the country. If you've never been, definitely try to go. August/early September is probably the best time of year to go for beach bums, but if you're a surfer, year-round will do.

It got cold enough in parts of the country recently to freeze the ocean solid. In Nantucket, off the coast of Massachusetts, the water turned into a "slurpee-like" consistency. Slurpee waves are both beautiful and gnarly, and some surfers actually braved the frigid temps to carve out some barrels following winter storm Grayson...

Way too cold to be surfing in slush. Here's the video, from Nobadeer beach in Nantucket...

Not too far away, in Falmouth, Mass. the ocean actually froze solid! Imagine being next to the ocean and not hearing any waves. Amazing!
