5 Seconds Of Summer are the latest artists to have a lawsuit thrown at them for "ripping off" a song by another artist. Katy Perry just lost a big one in court over Dark Horse, there's Ed Sheeran's lawsuits, Robin Thicke, Pharrel Williams, etc. This one might have them pony up big time as well.
The blokes are being sued by an artist named David Henderson and his partners David Doth and Peter Ferencz), who's 2016 song White Shadows sounds a lot like 5SOS's Youngblood, the was released a little over a year ago. See if you can hear the similarities below...
In a statement from their lawyer, Davidson Sheen, the three of them claim: "The substantial similarity between 'Youngblood' and 'White Shadows' is readily apparent, and is so striking that it could not be the result of mere coincidence."
And of course, the internet has got jokes, and I'm here for them. Even 5SOS fans are getting in on the ball busting, prompting the hashtag #5SOSisgoingtojailparty to trend on Twitter...
I don't think this one ends well for the blokes of 5SOS!
