The two best Halloween costumes you'll see this year were hand-made by a mom with a serious addiction to crochet. Stephanie Pokorny has created a family tradition by making her kids' costumes each year from scratch. This year, they wanted to be Skeletor (He-Man) and a Xenomroph (Aliens). After a lot of yearn and a lot of time, the costumes turned out pretty amazing...
Each costume takes her between 35 and 50 hours to crochet, which she breaks up over the course of two to three weeks. If you're doing the math at home, that's up to 100 hours and as many as six weeks of working and crocheting so her sons can be the coolest kids on the block.
She estimates the material cost of the costumes to be around $75, but the cost of the intensive labor that goes into them would make them considerably more expensive.
