Carrie Underwood Opens Up About Difficulty 'Bouncing Back' After Second Son

So many of us know Carrie Underwood as stunning and kind country singer from American Idol who also has incredible legs (seriously, people worship her legs.)

But just because we all view her this way doesn't mean she doesn't also feel the pressures of getting back to herself after giving birth, just like the rest of us do. And believe me, so many of us moms struggle with getting back to feeling like our true selves after giving birth - I've talked about it in detail on my podcast and on the air.

Carrie, who has athletic wear company CALIA, recently opened up about her experience getting back to her pre-baby body after having her second son, Jacob, who was born earlier this year.

While talking to PEOPLE, Carrie shared:

“After having my first kid [Isaiah, 4], I felt like I bounced back fast. And then with Jake, it was like my body took a minute to get back to me. It was frustrating, because I’m like, ‘Why wasn’t it like the first time?’"

While I can't relate to having a baby a second time, since I had twins, I definitely understand the feeling of "why isn't this going back to normal how I thought?"

Carrie also shared a perspective that perhaps all moms should take on:

“But I’m four years older. That also helped me shift my mindset — I’m still working hard, wanting to be the best me possible, but cutting myself slack and just thinking, ‘Be kind to yourself.’ It’s amazing what we [women] do to ourselves. We’re probably all our toughest critics.”

Just because something happened one way one, doesn't mean it will happen that way again! And the busier our lives get, the more we have to focus on carving out time for ourselves. Which, as so many of us know, gets even more challenging with multiple kids. But keep working hard, keep finding that time for yourself, and cut yourself a little slack!

something went a certain way the first time around, doesn't mean it's always going to be like that. The older we get the more our bodies change. The busier we get, the more we have to carve time out to focus on ourselves, which gets tricky with multiple kids.

And for anyone stressing about weight, dieting and the holidays... Carrie had some really great advice for that too. Don't call them "cheat days" - they're not about cheating.

“I don’t like to call them ‘cheat days’ — you’re just enjoying life... I feel like holiday time can be stressful when it comes to health and fitness, but it doesn’t have to be. You can just say, ‘I’m going to enjoy myself on the holidays.’"

So go out there, enjoy your life. And have VERY happy holidays.
