Congratulations, Hope Solo! The Soccer Star Is Expecting Twins

USA v New Zealand: Women's Football - Olympics: Day -2

Any time I find out someone is expecting twins, I feel like we're bound together in a club. Seriously, it's the twin parenthood club! And while it often is unspoken, we all know it's a thing.

So when I heard former member of US Women's National Soccer Hope Solo announced she was pregnant with twins, I felt connected to her... even though we've never met. And she's not just expecting twins, but BOY/GIRL twins, just like my kids!

Hope shared the exciting news during an appearance on BeIN Sports on Monday, saying "my husband and I get to practice equality from the very beginning with one boy and one girl... Miniature soccer team on the way."

She then followed up with a post on Instagram sharing that she and her husband will be "doubling" the size of their family and I could not be more excited for them:

Not that I think ANYONE should give unsolicited parenting advice to anyone, I will share my greatest lessons I learned from having twins for anyone out there who might be expecting twins.

Have a schedule. Seriously cannot express how important this was, especially when Aiza and Maxon were first born. We kept track of when each of them ate, slept, had a diaper changed. And then formed specific nap times, feeding times, etc. As they got a little older and started sleeping in their own room, this was even more important. With two, if you don't have a schedule, you'll never have a moment of down time.

Always have extra of everything. With double the babies comes double the opportunity for disaster. ALWAYS pack an extra change of clothes per kid when you leave the house. Bring more diapers than you think you'll need. Have a check list of the items you HAVE to have with you when you travel to any extent.

You can't plan for everything. As much as we tried to stick to the schedule and be over prepared, you also have to accept that sometimes life comes at you fast. You're going to want to take cute pictures of the twins in matching outfits but guess what? One will have thrown up on themselves in the car and you have to change them. You will have plans for things to get done during their nap time and then one will decide they're only napping for 15 minutes that day. It happens. Just roll with the punches the best you can.

SO excited for Hope and all the expecting parents out there. There is nothing that has brought more joy to my life than having my twins.
