Summer isn’t officially over yet and this article in the LA Times really surprised me at the mad dash there is when it comes to fire pits in LA!
Labor Day weekend, if you wanted a fire pit at the Dockweiler State Beach for example… you needed to line up in your car…on the PCH…before 5am!
Dockweiler’s 87 fire pits have become so sought after…the only proper way to enjoy one is to get to the beach early…before dawn on busy weekends…and stake your claim. · Though some people say they’ve managed to pay TaskRabbit “taskers” or high schoolers to snag a pit…which is kind of genius!
Once the first people make it inside at 6am and park their cars, the beach turns into a mad dash to secure the best spot. They say it’s like opening the doors at Coachella!
And then you either camp out or leave stuff around your pit ALL DAY until the rest of your crew shows up.
