Obviously, everything is a little weird this holiday season with Covid cases on the rise. With light up night being cancelled this year, the city of Pittsburgh is bringing their annual tree lighting to your home Friday night via social media and City Channel YouTube.
According to a press release, Mayor Bill Peduto will be joined by Santa in a pre-recorded socially distant ceremony. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will also be represented by five members of the brass section, playing a medley of holiday favorites.
This is the 105th year that a tree will be present on Grant Street right outside of the city county building. The tree will remain on display with occasional light shows on the front facade of city county through the end of January.
