Let's be honest, Kim Kardashian slayed the Met Gala. Showing up in the exact dress that Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang Happy Birthday to President Kennedy is a pretty cool thing.
Vogue went behind the scenes of the process, describing Kim's weight loss to fit into the dress, the handling of the garment using white gloves and how guarded the dress was on it's trip to NYC. Kim only wore the real actual dress for a few minutes while she climbed the Met steps with her date, Pete Davidson. At the top, she removed the dress and handed it directly back to it's owner, Ripley's Believe it or Not in Orlando before slipping into a replica for the actual party.
Because of the delicacy of the 60 year old dress and the fact that it's the most expensive dress ever sold at auction, TMZ reports that Kim was initially told she couldn't wear it because the dress didn't fit. The museum had a change of heart when Kim lost the weight to make it work.
Ripley's released some behind the scenes footage of Kim's final fitting for the dress a few days ago in Orlando. TMZ has additional footage of the fitting and a gift given to Kim by Ripley's....an actual lock of Marilyn Monroe's hair!
