It's hard to think all the way back to a time when Mandy Moore and Wilmer Valderrama dated, but that really did happen back when Mandy was "16 or 17."
And there was a little drama surrounding that time of their lives, when Wilmer told radio host Howard Stern about he and Mandy's relationship and claimed that he took her virginity, saying, "the sex with Mandy was good, but it wasn’t like warm apple pie." In response, during an interview with Elle, Mandy admitted that he had lied and called what he said, "utterly tacky, not even true, and it hurt my feelings because I like him," she said.
But now, 13 years after Wilmer said those things about her, Mandy opened up to the same radio host he originally said them to about how hurt she was at the time.
“I dated him when I was 16 and 17... I love him and I still love him and he’s a very good friend, and that’s why I was so shocked by it. Because not only was it a fib, but it was so unlike him — it was so uncharacteristic.”
The former couple met on a photo shoot when Mandy was just 15 - she is now 34 and he is 38 - so they were clearly just kids. She even went on to say at the time of meeting him she had never even "French-kissed a boy."
Mandy, who is now engaged to Taylor Goldsmith of the band Dawes, says there's really no hard feelings between she and Wilmer anymore and that she has "moved past it."
As for where they stand now? They're still "friendly."
They have some mutual friends and “see each other around every now and then. He came to my house a couple months ago. I had some friends over.”
As for how Wilmer felt after lying about taking Mandy's virginity? He apparently called the Howard Stern show and asked them not to air what he said, or to take the interview down, and Mandy believes he "learned a valuable lesson that day."
Good on her to just let it go though!
